WHO ARE WE?

Formerly known as the "Upper Hudson Valley Chapter, Inc. of the National Hemophilia Foundation, Inc.", we are a volunteer, not-for-profit organization that serves the congenital bleeding disorders community within Northeastern New York and adjacent areas.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is one of service and is the same as the National Hemophilia Foundation, Inc. "We are dedicated to the cures of inherited bleeding disorders and the prevention and treatment of the complications through education, advocacy, and research."

WHAT DO WE DO?

We advocate for the bleeding disorders community by:

  1. Legislative lobbying on the national (i.e., Ricky Ray Hemophilia Relief Fund Act of 1998) and the state level (Access to Justice legislation).
  2. Camperships
  3. Emergency funds
  4. Educational scholarships
  5. Community education at hospitals and local rescue squads
  6. Fundraisers - 100% of all monies raised go back to the community
  7. Monitoring of health issues - NHF, CDC, FDA, NIH
  8. Community Activities
    1. Cabin Fever Party
    2. Annual Picnic
    3. Bowl-a-thon
    4. Golf Tournament
    5. River Cruises
    6. Educational Seminars/Newsletters

No one will be denied membership due to financial reasons.

Membership Policy Changes

In an effort to meet the needs of our community and educate the general public, we have adopted a membership policy that will serve to define rights, privileges and responsibilities of individuals wanting to participate in the governance of the Bleeding Disorders Association of Northeastern New York Incorporated. This policy takes effect immediately. For clarification, questions or comments please contact us at 518-782-9787.

Membership Policy
July 2006

PURPOSE:

To define who is a voting member of the Bleeding Disorders Association of Northeastern New York Inc. (BDANENY)

DEFINITION:

  1. Member(s): An individual and/or individuals interested in participating in activities and/or programs sponsored by the BDANENY.
    Members will pay a set amount of money annually to maintain their status and fulfill any and all requirements stated in Article III of the BDANENY By-Laws.
    Member dues must be paid in full at least 30 days prior to a general membership vote to be eligible to cast a vote.
    The cost of an annual membership shall be set by the Board of Directors by April 1st on an annual basis. Information will be disseminated to the public by means available to the Association.
  2. Member-at-large: An individual and/or individuals interested in participating in activities and/ or programs sponsored by the BDANENY.
    Members-at-large have not fulfilled member status, therefore are not current as dues paying members and are not considered "in good standing" (Section II, Article III, By-Laws) thus are not eligible to participate in a general membership vote.
